Dear Families,

It is January, which means the staff at JFK is participating in the Big Change Roundup. The Big Change Roundup is run by WOKO, and supports the University of Vermont’s Children’s Hospital. The money goes to support the patients, as well as their families. The UVM Children’s Hospital consists of the maternity unit, the Children’s Specialty Center, Pediatric Primary Care clinics, and parts of the Emergency Room. Many of the students in the Winooski School District, and in the Winooski community, have accessed the UVM Children’s Hospital to stay healthy, or to deal with complicated medical issues. This connection to our community is the reason that the staff at JFK want to support the hospital through The Big Change Roundup.

To raise money, several brave staff members at JFK have volunteered to participate in the Hair Challenge. Sara Raabe,  Courtney Bryan, Angela Moulton, Lisa Goetz, Jacie Knapp, Sally Bissonette, Lisa Bushey, Jessica Perrotte, and Joshua Neilson have volunteered so far. Each staff member has a jar in the JFK office. The staff member that raises the most money by February 22nd has to dye their hair a fun color or two! People can donate by adding their spare change to a staff members jar in JFK’s office, or by  donating online at www.BigChangeRoundup.org. Look for the JFK Posse and donate to staff member of your choice.

WOKO came to school this morning for a Kick Off Assembly. We began collecting change today, and will continue to collect until February 22nd. We will have an All School Assembly on Friday February 24th to reveal the “winner” of the hair dye contest!  Each student will bring home today a “loot bag” for collecting change. This bag can be reused, the students will empty their bags in the office on a daily basis.

Girls on the Run is coming to JFK Elementary School and we need volunteers to help. GOTR is a Spring, 10 week program that starts at the end of March and runs through the first week of June.  Sessions meet twice a week for 90 minutes each.  You do not need to have running experience to coach. If you are interested in volunteering contact Sara Raabe or Suzanne Skaflestad at JFK (802) – 655- 0411

Have a wonderful weekend.
