Dear Families,

Happy Last Day of School! It is amazing how quickly this school year has gone. So many wonderful things happened this year. Students made amazing growth academically, socially, and emotionally. Be sure to take some time today to talk to your student(s) about what went well this year for them.

This morning was move up day. Students went to their new classroom and met their teacher for next year. The teachers took an extensive amount of time to balanced lists. If you have questions or concerns about your student’s placement, please get in touch with me by June 23rd. Email may be the best way to catch me ( After June 23rd class lists will be considered finalized for the 17-18 school year.

The students are leaving today, but the staff is here next week until Tuesday. We will be here working on wrapping up this year, and doing some things to get ready for next year. Over the summer, the custodial and maintenance staff is here working incredibly hard to get everything ready for the upcoming school year. I am also working for the majority of the summer, either at JFK or at professional development.

Summer School is ready to go for this summer. Summer School starts July 5th, and for that week runs the 5th, 6th, and 7th. For the weeks of July 10th, 17th, and 24th, summer school will run Monday through Thursday. Summer school is 8-12am each day it runs.

Fresh, healthy meals will be served for children 18 and under at the Winooski Memorial Library Tuesday – Friday 12-5 and Saturdays 10-2 starting June 21st. In addition, WSD will be serving breakfast and lunch each day during summer vacation.

If your children are growing out of their clothes and you need summer clothes, St Vincent Depaul Center, located behind St. Francis Church on Weaver St., sells gently used clothing. Most items are $0.50. They have a large selection of children’s clothing. Their hours are Tues/Wed from 9 am to 3 pm.

Thank you for an amazing year at JFK Elementary. It has been a great year, and I am excited for a fantastic 17-18 school year!

Have a wonderful summer.
