Winooski School District

Fair, and 27 °F | Feb 26th: No School

Friday, February 9, 2018

Dear Families,

I hope that everyone had the chance to get outside and enjoy the new snow on our snow day! Snowstorms in Vermont are always a beautiful thing.

Starting in January, JFK literacy coach Jennifer Lapointe has been working with Gayle Moskowitz from Partnerships for Literacy and Learning to support our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th-grade teachers in their ELA planning and implementation. Gayle worked with our K-2 teachers last year and knows our school and community well.  The studio type professional development is aimed at these specific grades due to the large academic jump in reading between 2nd and 3rd grade. Her knowledge and experience, coupled with Jen’s, is an amazing opportunity for our students and teachers.

This past week found many of our staff and students home sick. It is vital that students be kept home if they are sick with a fever or are vomiting. Students should be symptom-free for 24 hours before they return to school.  If your student is going to be out sick, make sure to call the JFK office to let us know that your student is sick.

The Big Change Roundup is underway! As a school, we have raised $726.58 so far. Here are the individual totals from week 2

Kari Bohlen – $22.18

Sara Raabe – $22.37

Grace Holcomb – $22.95

Angela Moulton – $29.10

Amanda Babcock – $35.45

Krista Parisi – $43.62

Jacie Knapp – $51.56

Lynn Garcia – $62.04

Jessica Perrotte – $71.44

Sarah Murphy – $96.10

Courtney Bryan – $131.04

Andy Schlatter – $138.73

Keep sending in the change!

Have a great weekend

Sara Raabe

JFK Principal
