College athletes team up to teach kids
WINOOSKI, Vt. – Soccer players from Williams College and the University of Vermont were all about the kids today at Winooski High School.
The athletes joined the Dream Mentoring Program to teach kids about soccer. The soccer clinic was open to Burlington and Winooski kids ages 4 to 18. It’s all part of an effort to give kids in affordable housing communities opportunities to learn more about sports.
“It is just really important to give back tot he community. We all had those opportunities growing up and we just wanted to make sure these kids had the same chance. Dream is really big about promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles and this is a great way to do that,” said organizer Hillary Laggis.
This is the program’s first year, but organizers hope to see the clinic continue next year.
