Friday Letter 9/16/16

The students at JFK are following our school wide expectations and being acknowledged with HEARTS every day. So far, we have had 20 of our 22 classes fill their HEART jars. The HEART monitor is filling up quickly. If you are around the school at 8:45am, check in with the office to see if any classes are dumping their HEART jars into the HEART Monitor that morning. The majority of the school comes to the front hallway and cheers and claps as their schoolmates put their HEARTS into the monitor! It is an amazing sight to see.
Yesterday, our 5th grade participated in a full day team building experience. Northern Lights came to school to work on team building with all the students. They brought their portable rock climbing wall and facilitated other hands-on experiences for our students. It was pretty amazing to watch.
Next week is our Scholastic Book Fair. The book fair runs 8am – 2:30 Monday through Friday next week. There are wonderful books for students of every reading level. At JFK the students’ only homework is reading each night. This is a great opportunity to get some affordable, high-quality books for your students to read at night.
Monday is picture day for PK-5th grades. The schedule is pretty tight in order to get every class in. Please make sure that your students are here on time and able to stay until 3pm.
I know that there are times when your student may not give you the weekly newsletter. I post the newsletter on the Principal Raabe page on the WSD school website, and on the JFK Elementary Facebook page each Friday just in case you need a second way to read the important information that is sent home each Friday.
Have a great weekend!
