Love Your Heart
February is American Heart Month, and a good time for you to check in with your heart.
Heart disease is America’s leading health problem and leading cause of death in both men and women. During February, your Wellness team encourages you to be informed about your risks of cardiovascular disease. Here are some simple steps you can take:
- Schedule a physical with your doctor and ask about your blood pressure. It’s a simple, positive action toward understanding your heart health. Your doctor can talk to you about the results, or help answer questions you may have. Read more about high blood pressure here.
- Learn your cholesterol level. Contact your doctor about a screening to help you understand if your levels indicate a risk of cardiovascular disease which can lead to a heart attack or stroke.
- Know warning signs of a heart attack or stroke. Being informed could save your life, or the life of someone close to you. Click here for the warning signs of a heart attack, and here for the warning signs of stroke.
