I enjoy traveling through New England and the Gulf of Mexico beaches in Florida. I have a summer concession business which has brought me to many events in Vermont, NY, and Maine.
In my younger years, living near the Canadian border, I was able to ski at many resorts such as Jay Peak in Vermont along with Mt. Sutton in Quebec. Also, Montreal was about a 75 minute drive for entertainment and culture.
I have had a jet ski for many years and living near Lake Carmi provided a great time for water-skiing, tubing, etc.
Education and Professional Experiences
I grew up in central New York State in a small hamlet called Little York, NY. My grandfather had a 350 acre farm and my early days were spent working with holstein cows and growing along with marketing all types of vegetables at a roadside stand.
I received a A.A.S degree from the State Univ. of NY at Delhi in Business Administration then went on to The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio and completed a B.S. in Education.
I began teaching four days after graduating from Ohio State in Richford, Vermont where I remained for 39 years. At Richford, I was both the business and driver ed. teacher.
While at Richford, I was able to leave for one year and teach driver ed. in Fairbanks, Alaska and have also worked many summers at BFA, St. Albans in the driver ed. program
I completed a Master’s Degree at UVM along with taking courses at St. Michaels and Champlain College.
What has been your greatest learning experience? (in or out of school)
Learning to operate a successful business is probably my greatest learning experience. You really find out both the positive and negative aspects when you attempt to be successful in business.
Who do you admire and why?
I admire many close family members who lived near me in New York State. They taught me to be respectful, hard working, and to save for the future.
What do you love about your current WSD position and the WSD community?
At Winooski I love the challenge of working with students from around the world and learning about their cultures. Also, the driver ed. program is very flexible for scheduling and working with students.
