Welcome to the end of the third week of school! I apologize for no letter last week – I was home with a tough migraine.
The first three weeks of school have been amazing. Students and staff are settling back into routines and expectations. A new staff member asked me why everyone is so happy here at JFK. I believe a huge part of that is our connections to our families and the students. We want our families involved in our school and in their student(s) school life. Your student(s) teacher sent home a volunteer form in their summer letter. If you did not get one, please ask the teacher for one. Also, each teacher or team is communicating weekly with their families. Some teachers are doing blogs or websites, and some are doing paper letters. If you are unsure how your student(s) teacher is communicating weekly, please ask them.
Another way for our families to become involved in our school is through the PTO. The kickoff PTO meeting is next Wednesday, September 20th. The meeting starts at 5:30 and ends at 7:30 in the library. The PTO is a huge support for our students, including funding field trips and activities throughout the year. We would love to see more families involved in PTO this year – it is a great way to help support our students!
Thank you to all of the families that have helped to make dismissal go more smoothly. Families waiting in the grade level areas have made a huge difference and lessened the congestion at the exit doors.
Monday is picture day. All students get their pictures taken, even if you do not order a package.
